Pushkar Camel Fair & Rajasthan Adventure

Take any local carnival you’ve ever been to at home. Now add thousands of extra people, cricket matches, longest-moustache competitions, and more camels than you can count. Voila! You’ve got Rajasthan's wondrously bewildering Pushkar Camel Fair. This itinerary combines four days at the festival with time in Jodhpur, Agra, Udaipur, and Delhi.

Day 1 Delhi
Arrive at any time.

Day 2 Delhi
Embark on a morning walking tour of Delhi led by a local youth guide—part of the G Adventures-supported City Walk project assisting at-risk youth—and gain a unique perspective of this bustling city. Later, wander through Old Delhi, visiting the colourful spice markets, Jama Masjid, Connaught Place, Chandni Chowk, and explore the history of the Sikh religion at Gurduwara Sis Ganj. In the evening, board an overnight train to Jodphur.

Day 3 Jodhpur
Arrive early in Jodhpur, the second largest city in Rajasthan, often called the “Blue City” for the vast number of houses painted in the colour. Take a short climb to the top of a hill on the outskirts of the city to reach the Mehrangarh Fort, one of the largest forts in India. Later, wander around Old City with its clock tower and Sadar Bazaar, one of the oldest markets in India.

Day 4 Jodhpur/Udaipur
Travel to Udaipur, visiting the outstanding Jain temples at Ranakpur en route. On arrival in Udaipur, take an orientation walk including visits to the Jagdish Temple and Lake Pichola. In the evening, attend a Rajasthani cultural show at the Bagore-ki-Haveli Folk Museum on Gangaur Ghat.

Day 5 Udaipur
Visit Rajasthan's largest palace and the Eklingji Palace complex before enjoying free time to explore. You could journey out to the hilltop Monsoon Palace, the summer resort of the Maharajas. Sitting atop a hill with a panoramic view of the city’s lakes, it a great place to watch the sunset.

Day 6 Udaipur/Pushkar
Travel through Ajmer and over Snake Mountain to Pushkar, one of the holiest Hindu pilgrimage sites in the world. Take an orientation walk, including the lake, ghats, and the 14th-century Brahma Temple.

Day 7 Pushkar
Enjoy a full day to experience all the action of the colourful Pushkar Camel Fair.

Day 8 Pushkar

Day 9 Pushkar

Day 11 Pushkar/Jaipur
In the morning, travel to Jaipur—one of the most important heritage cities in India—commonly known as "The Pink City." Spend a free evening exploring. A visit to Jaipur wouldn't be complete without catching a Bollywood film in the spectacular Art Deco film house — the Raj Mandir Cinema.

Day 12 Jaipur
Stop for a photo opportunity at Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds) before continuing to Amber Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site clinging to the surrounding hills on Maota Lake. Afterward, opt to visit the Anokhi Museum, established to ensure the ancient traditions of hand block printing are maintained.

Day 13 Jaipur/Āgra
Travel to Agra and visit the I’timad-ud-Daulah, known as Baby Taj, built before the Taj Mahal and resembling a jewelry box.

Day 14 Āgra/Delhi
Visit India’s most famous landmark, the Taj Mahal. Start out before sunrise for the best light in which to see this white marble masterpiece. Later, ride one of the ubiquitous cycle rickshaws to visit the Agra Fort before travelling to Delhi.

Day 15 Delhi
